Richmond at War
1861-1865

The Shenandoah Civil War Associates is presenting a program called "Richmond at War: 1861-1865". We will tour and visit historical sites in Richmond, Virginia that served as the capital of the Confederacy from May, 1861 until the evacuation of the city by the Confederate government at the conclusion of the war in April, 1865.

The program begins on the campus of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia on the afternoon of June 19 with guest speakers. Jeffry Wert is the featured speaker at the Friday evening banquet. Beginning on Saturday, the program includes tours of Civil War sites in Richmond, including the site of Libby Prison, Libby Hill, Castle Thunder Prison, Monument Avenue, route of Lincoln visit, Lee House, Hollywood Cemetery, Tredegar Iron Works, Hollywood Cemetery, and Chimborazo Hospital. We will also visit the Virginia State Capitol, the Museum of the Confederacy, and the Confederate White House.
